John Marshall Roberts (Founder/CEO) is an applied behavioral scientist who has crafted his career around communicating with cynics. Through strategic communications and values-based messaging John helps leaders develop the empathy skills required to inspire common vision for causes that matter. His book "Igniting Inspiration: A Persuasion Manual for Visionaries" draws on his knowledge of systems theory and developmental psychology to enable socially conscious marketers, business leaders, and activists to win over objectors and inspire radical collaboration. A dynamic and popular speaker and workshop leader within the sustainability movement, John has recently been invited to speak by a variety of leading organizations which include the US White House, Sustainable Life Media, SustainAbility (England), and TEDx (New Zealand). In a consulting role, Roberts has worked with EcoAlign to help North American utility companies improve public understanding of and participation in utility sponsored environmental programs. He prepared a groundbreaking white paper,Cracking the Green Code, as a part of this work. For the celebrated 30-year-old branding firm Evenson Design Group (EDG), he developed a series of strategic messaging campaigns to position the firm to compete in the sustainability space. In addition to attracting a host of new clients, EDG has also won several awards for their redesigned website and brand. Other recent clients and partners include the Small Planet Foods, 3M, New Zealand Department of Conservation, Plunket Royal Society, and Sustainable Life Media. Earlier in his career, Roberts taught psychology and research methods at the University of South Florida. He previously was a Vice President in Leadership Development at Bank of America, where he led selection and assessment/leadership development initiatives in the wealth management, corporate investment, global markets businesses, and enterprise-wide executive selection. John has also served as a client manager for HR, Finance, Risk, and Deposits LOBs. John has 15 years of work-related experience as an internal and external human resources/leadership development consultant. Prior to joining Bank of America, John was a senior talent management consultant at Lowe’s Corporation, where he led many large-scale, visible executive talent management projects and conducted ongoing executive coaching. He also worked at Safeway Inc. as a Leadership Assessment Team Manager, and Arthur Andersen, as a Senior Organization Development Consultant where he supported various performance management, process improvement, and change initiatives. John holds a M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Hofstra University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of South Florida. He has presented several papers and symposia at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), International Congress for Public Administration, and American Psychological Association (APA) conferences. He has also published a variety of professional, research-based articles in top-tier journals. John also holds six sigma Blackbelt and executive coaching certifications and is currently finsihing his Ph.D. |
